Zully Hernandez, a Las Vegas nurse, was on a plane en route to Los Angeles, when she heard the news about what had happened to her city.
I met Nurse Zully in Vegas, and I knew I needed more of her in my life. https://t.co/JRtrIAUxO1

A disturbed shooter had fired upon the Route 91 Harvest music festival from the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino. In what is now being described as the worst mass shooting in the United States history, 58 people were killed and over 400 were wounded.
Her friend and fellow nurse had informed Zully over text that their hospital had called for the assistance of the entire medical staff. Hernandez’s only wish was that she was there to help.
Luckily Ellen DeGeneres was able to give her that opportunity when she invited Zully on stage and asked her how they could assist the victims of the mass shooting. “We need blood desperately,” Hernandez said. “My girlfriend called me this morning and said, ‘You’d be so overwhelmed with how much everybody is coming to help.”
“It sucks that it takes something like this for people to have the courage to go do something good for other people,” Hernandez said.
