One of the most irritating aspects of Trump’s presidency is watching tax dollars flow into his businesses. The government claims there are no wrongdoings or conflicts of interest, but how is that possible?
Trump claims to have disconnected from his businesses and put his sons in charge, but time & time again, Americans have seen shady dealings within the Trump family.
The House Oversight Committee has seen enough tax money flow into Trump businesses and wants to know exactly how much money the Trumps have received from the government, according to CNN.
House Democrats wrote a joint letter sent to twenty-three federal agencies requesting to see exactly how much government money is being spent at Trump properties. The letter demands a response from all agencies by August 25th.
Rep. Elijah Cummings wrote:
“The President’s financial entanglements make it impossible to know whether he is making his decisions in the public interest or to benefit him or his family members financially.”
Donald Trump “has repeatedly visited and held events at his properties throughout his presidency, including Mar-a-Lago in Florida, where he hosted Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and Chinese President Xi Jinping, and his golf club in Bedminster, New Jersey. Trump has spent 21 of his first 26 weekends in office at properties bearing his name. Overall, he has spent 40 days at Trump-branded golf properties.”
House Democrats say the Trump administration has failed to disclose “expenditures associated with his trips to Mar-a-Lago, Bedminster or any properties he owns.” They want to know “whether the President benefited financially from these expenditures.”
