A once-close Trump friend and supporter who became one of President Trump’s loudest conservative detractors just publicly called out the President’s family for the mess they’ve made in the White House.
In an op-ed for the Washington Post, Joe Scarborough of MSNBC’s Morning Joe laid into the First Daughter Ivanka Trump and her husband Jared Kushner for being entirely unqualified to work in the White House and suggests that they would do better to move back to New York and go back to their respective professions of hawking overpriced sweatshop clothes and arranging business deals that never seem to pan out.
Americans have seen enough headlines over the past six months to better understand why nepotism does not work in the White House. Though my words may suggest otherwise, I genuinely like Jared and Ivanka. I also love Joey, Andrew, Katherine and Jack Scarborough. But I wouldn’t let them run my morning show any more than Trump should let his children run roughshod over White House operations. Vice presidents, not daughters, should sit in G-20 summits. And a secretary of state should broker Middle East peace. Not an inexperienced 36-year-old son-in-law.
I have no doubt that Trump’s daughter and son-in-law believe they are working hard to make America and the world a better place. But now the best thing they can do for their country is to move back to New York and let professionals run the White House.
Judging from the headlines detailing Kushner’s counterproductive and ham-fisted attempts to negotiate a peace agreement between Palestine and their Israeli occupiers and the absence of any accomplishments by Ivanka Trump, both in spearheading her supposed flagship issues like paid family leave and reining in her father’s more destructive impulses, it’s clear that these pampered failkids don’t belong anywhere near the White House.
