JUST IN: Trump Gets Slapped with a Criminal Ethics Complaint for His Racist Attacks on Professional Athletes

One of the most vexatious aspects of Trump’s presidency is his ability to get away with saying whatever he wants, no matter how racist, extreme, or disturbing his comments are.

At the tail end of last week at a rally for Republican candidate Luther Strange, Trump went off script to attack NFL players who knelt during the national anthem in peaceful protest. He called them “sons of b*tches” who should be fired.

Trump made a giant boo-boo when he called upon NFL owners to fire players. There is a federal law in place that prohibits the President from influencing employment choices made by private companies.

Federal law 18 USC 227 (a)2 states:

“Whoever, being a covered government person, with the intent to influence, solely on the basis of partisan political affiliation, an employment decision or employment practice of any private entity influences, or offers or threatens to influence, the official act of another, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned for not more than 15 years, or both, and may be disqualified from holding any office of honor, trust, or profit under the United States.”

The senior advisor to the Democratic Coalition Against Trump, Steve Dworkin, filed a criminal complaint with the U.S. Government Office of Ethics against Trump.

He wrote in a letter:

On September 22nd, 2017 President Donald Trump said this at a rally for Alabama Senator Luther Strange: “Wouldn’t you love to see one of these NFL owners, when somebody disrespects our flag, to say, ‘Get that son of a bitch off the field right now. Out! He’s fired. He’s fired!’ You know, some owner is going to do that. He’s going to say, ‘That guy that disrespects our flag, he’s fired.’ And that owner, they don’t know it [but] they’ll be the most popular person in this country.” On Saturday September 23rd, 2017 President Trump tweeted “If a player wants the privilege of making millions of dollars in the NFL,or other leagues, he or she should not be allowed to disrespect…. …our Great American Flag (or Country) and should stand for the National Anthem. If not, YOU’RE FIRED. Find something else to do!

The letter concluded, “We respectfully request that the U.S. Office of Government Ethics investigate these potential ethics violations and take all appropriate disciplinary actions against the President.”

  1. I agree that 45 should be held accountable. However, we do seem to be living in an alternative universe where he is getting away with everything. I am perplexed, sad and angry that Congress is not saying more! I want to see them outraged at this President and his lack of respect and decency! All of them. I think that sickens me more.
