President Barack Obama has had to deal with an increasingly obstructionist Congress since the GOP swept the House in the 2010 midterm elections. Lately, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell has been leading the charge to torpedo Obama policy.
McConnell goes to extremes to ensure no Obama initiative makes it into law. He also fought tooth and nail to get rid of the Affordable Care Act.
It seems it’s almost become a personal vendetta — and now there’s video proof.
In a speech in August during the 2016 Fancy Farm picnic in Graves County, Kentucky, McConnell told the crowd:
“One of my proudest moments was when I looked Barack Obama in the eye and said, ‘Mr President, you will not fill this Supreme Court vacancy.’”
He was referring to Republican efforts to sink Merrick Garland’s appointment to the Supreme Court, as the GOP desperately needs a conservative judge on the court to further their agenda.
