White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders rivals her predecessor, Sean Spicer, when it comes to dodging tough questions from the press.
When asked a question about Donald Trump Jr. and the recent Russian meeting scandal, Sanders responded that to know the answer to a question she would have to ask the president.
The reporter asking the question wanted some clarification:
-Are you saying you will ask him & get back to us?
-No, I said I *would* have to in order to answer that question. pic.twitter.com/r4msw7RArl

That was simultaneously a nasty backhand and a surprisingly skillful linguistic evasion—a double move that no doubt had Trump giving her a thumbs-up upon leaving the briefing room.
Twitter had a few choice words for the maneuver:
She makes Melissa McCarthy's Spicer look warm and bubbly by comparison.

I'll get back to you on this… I'll get back to you on that… I don't know, I wasn't talking to him…. he made it very clear.. EASY job!

What is the value of these briefings? Seems like a whole bunch of evasiveness and non-answers to the most important questions.

There is no purpose. It's non/incorrect info. The press should just stop showing up. Watch TCM to see tap dancing not the news.
