Yesterday’s abrupt and uncalled for ban on transgender Americans serving in the US military took everyone by surprise, including the Pentagon.
The President apparently fired off the edict on Twitter without informing anyone in the military and with no consideration for what would happen to the 4,000 or so active duty transgender soldiers currently serving American empire across the world.
After consultation with my Generals and military experts, please be advised that the United States Government will not accept or allow……

In light of that failure to properly follow protocol and recognizing the President’s tendency to make grand announcements without any actual follow-up or action behind it – remember that time Trump said he was going to declare martial law in Chicago? – the Joint Chiefs of Staff have issued this statement, reported by Reuters.
“There will be no modifications to the current policy until the President’s direction has been received by the Secretary of Defense and the Secretary has issued implementation guidance.
“In the meantime, we will continue to treat all of our personnel with respect. As importantly, given the current fight and the challenges we face, we will all remain focused on accomplishing our assigned missions.”
It is very reassuring to see that our military commanders are willing to go out of their way to protect the dignity of the transgender soldiers who risk their lives and limbs for the United States here and abroad.
Our military has just made it very clear they will not take orders from a tweet.
